Nehorai, aged two-years-and-four-months from Mitzpe Ramon, received a new lease on life when he underwent a liver transplantation at Schneider Children's Medical Center.
Nehorai suffered from a metabolic disease in his liver that failed to produce a certain enzyme. His medical condition deteriorated quickly and only a liver transplant could save his life. His mother was preparing to donate a liver lobe to her son and had undergone all the necessary checks before the complex operation. But, at the eleventh hour, the family was informed that a compatible liver of a child had become available.
Nehorai's mother said: "I am extremely moved and grateful from the bottom of my heart to the courageous family that agreed to donate the organs of their loved one and in so doing, saved my son’s life. I wish to thank the medical and nursing teams at Schneider who are doing such a wonderful job saving children's lives."
