A performance by Rami Kleinstein and the band was the focal point of the annual fundraising event of Friends of Schneider Children's Association, which took place at Reading 3 at the Port of Tel Aviv. Over one million NIS were raised, and will be dedicated to the establishment of the neonatal department in the new hospitalization tower which will get under way soon.
The neonatal department at Schneider Medical Center, headed by Prof. Lea Sirota, treats about 1,000 premature babies and newborns from all parts of the country, every year. The young patients often suffer from various medical problems, such as multi-system congenital disorders, congenital heart defects, central nerve system defects and other disorders. The inter-disciplinary staff of the department treats the babies and newborns with endless devotion, and provides medical and psycho-social support to the patients and their parents until they are discharged from the hospital.
Among those present at the emotional event were "alumni" of the neonatal department, who came to thank Prof. Sirota: Alon, an IDF soldier who was born 18 years ago at Week 24, weighing 500 grams, and Shira, mother of twin girls Anael and Liel, who were born after 24 weeks of pregnancy, weighing 600 grams, who had been discharged from the hospital shortly before the event.
Sharon Kidon volunteered as Master of Ceremonies. Also present were Prof. Yossef Press, Director of Schneider Children's Medical Center, Mr. Israel Makov, President of the Friends Association, Mr. Ronen Tov, Chairman of the Board of Directors and many others.
Many thanks to our donors and friends!
