Avigayil, 3-year-old

Avigayil was treated in the Oncology Department from the age of two after a growth was found on her spine. She underwent operations, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Avigail, 3, has been in the care of the Hemato-Oncology Department since she was 2 after a tumor was discovered in her spine, The department at Schneider Children's was founded by a team of specialists headed by Israel Prize laureate for Medical Research, the late Prof. Dina Zairov. Treatment of children with cancer at Schneider Children's is on a par with leading centers in the world. Success rates for all types of childhood cancer are above 85 percent. The staff follows international protocols for pediatric cancer care that dramatically increases survival rates.

Avigayil, 8-year-old

Avigail lives in Ra'anana. Sweet girl, active and a dancer.

Ziv Koren, an awardwinning docu-photographer, volunteered to document daily hospital routine and special moments taking place within the walls of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel. Five years later, Ziv Koren returned to the hospital and photograph those same children again in a similar location – and healthy.
